The main event is by far the most important of all taking place in Las Vegas this July and the winners will be decided only in November.
Meanwhile, there are 69 players in the race and they will try to make it to the final table, where the most successful nine of them will take a four months break before action resumes.
The Canadian is among them and by far the most prominent player still competing and the challenge is high because he’s chasing the leaders. Winning another bracelet would mean a great deal for Daniel, particularly if this comes in the main event, where the odds of prevailing are insignificant.
He did a fine job at consolidating his position and now has more than 3.6 million chips, which is a lot but not enough to grant a place among the top 10.
Pierre Neuville is currently topping the list with more than seven millions and even though he has twice as much as the Canadian poker pro, the difference is not insurmountable. Meanwhile, the runner-up sits at 6.5 million chips and there are three other players who have crossed this threshold, so when action resumes tomorrow, things are going to be pretty intense.
It is particularly important for the remaining players not to bleed chips because if they make it to the final table with a shallow stack, their odds will be slim to none. Negreanu is always among the favorites when the WSOP main event begins and with so many chips in front of him in his a force to be reckoned with.
There were thousands of players at the tables when the competition started and with less than 70 of them still standing, it is worth checking out the top 10 to get a look at what awaits us tomorrow:
